Week 3 Monday 13th - Sunday 19th February
Week
Monday 13th February
Galia Kirilove: Hi all, I emailed British Museum and Tate. Still waiting for the answer. Maybe I have to wait for Monday.
Lisa Mazza: Hi evereybody and thanks for the update Galia. I'd suggest that we update each other tomorrow about meeting time and place for Wednesday. If you want we could end the day by watching "The Halfmoon Files: A Ghost Story" (the film by Philip Scheffner that Grace has suggested) at my place in Hackney (85 Blurton Rd) We have a projector and I could cook a quick pasta. Let me know what you think. Till soon, xx
Anna Ilchenko: Thank you guys. Found some interesting projects about archiving. Might be useful. http://kunstraum.uni-lueneburg.de/publikationen/eiarchive.html Lisa, that'd be wonderful!!
Kiki Claxton: I concur!
Stef Bailey: hell yeh! What time? I have Hegel til 9?¡
Tuesday 14th February
Baiba Jake: Lisa, that is a very nice suggestion. I'm up for that.
Lisa Mazza: @ Stef: if you finish at 9 (at Goldsmiths) you won't be at my place before 9:45 which is rather late...any way you could reschedule Hegel? @ all: So when are we meeting tomorrow? 2pm at Goldsmiths library for pre discussion and than travel together to White Cube for the meeting at 4pm?
Anna Ilchenko: Sounds like a plan!
Baiba Jake: Sounds good to me too.
AI: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eV8VDlNkY00
Stef Bailey: nice vid Anna. Ok rescheduled Hegel so on for tomorrow!x
those artist books I told you about, now officially released and free on pdf!! http://www.badlandsunlimited.com/wht_is.html (something to think about re: dissemination, glossary etc etc..
Lisa Mazza: thanks a lot Stef.great (both Hegel rescheduling and artist books link)! Xx
SB: Well if I went with Hegel it would be that classic "man before your mates" hell no.
LM: hahahahaha
Wednesday 15th February
Kiki Claxton: http://www.tate.org.uk/britain/exhibitions/altermodern/explore.shtm 25564523.pdf
Stef Bailey: Galia the notes - everyone add something where u see fit. The idea is that we complete most of the things in Archive as Space, notes on...and the "jobs" by next Wednesday? Institutional Archive meeting3.docx
Baiba Jake: Hi Galia! It was a pity you couldn't come today, we really missed you! Have you received any response from Tate or British Museum? If they haven't responded anything, I will contact them again then, as I am very interested in exploring this whole public/private question. Also, when you wrote to them, did you let them know that we are from Goldsmith's?
SB: did u guys notice that there is an archive button on the messages part of facebook? and when you click archive, i don't know where the messages go!!! *xfiles soundtrack*
Lisa Mazza: I discovered it just a moment ago, too.
BJ: oh.. I just realised that every time I thought I deleted a message from f-book, I actually archived it.
Stef- when you go at the end of all of the messages, there is a selection where you can choose to view only archived messages.
LM: ere comes the text by Orsalia. It was important for her to let me know that it is in a draft state and therefore nothing is referenced..xx the emergence of new publics_Orsalia Dimitriou.pdf
BJ: Thanks..
Thursday 16th February
Galia Kirilova: Hello Dear All,
I am terribly sorry I've missed everything this Wednesday. Unfortunately, my work is taking the energy and mind this week. I do apologies about this my absence. That doesn't mean I haven't been working on our project as well. I don't have any replay from Tate and British museum via email so we can call them and see if we can arrange an appointment. I can do this tomorrow morning. And yes Baiba, I clearly underline that we are students from Goldsmiths.
I spoke to Anna today and she gave me the latest news. So I am up to date with all the fragments which are going on.
I am quite interested on the radio platform and I was doing some research on this. Would be great if we can arrange a discussion and transmitted on. I will send some ideas and links asap. I will be more active from next week again. Meanwhile, It's a Carnival Time in Venice!! During this period there is a place in London where you can emerge yourself in venetian culture and tradition get seduced by food and lost your identity covered with a mask..

Baiba Jake: Galia, no worries. I'll contact them from the starting point again. I have decided to go into the narrative of private/public. Therefore, it would be very useful for me to contact the institutions myself. This time I won't mention that we are from Goldsmith's, but just members of public and see how it goes. It would be great though, if you could save the letter that you sent out, as we could use it later on in our project.
GK: Hello, we have an appointment with British museum next Wednesday at 10.30. Hopefully is working for everybody. I spoke to the lady from archive and she will take us to through and explaining how archive works nowadays and what is the position of the archive in contemporary world, how knowledge is preserve and transmit. I will get hold on Tate later one
SB: Spoke to Charlie he says he can help with the rado. Maybe Baiba and Galia you both keep records of your contact, and Baiba as you said take the 'public' road and Galia the 'institutional'?
Friday 17th February
Kiki Claxton: Good morning, Just realised I didn't email out the email addy. So it's: [email protected].
Also does anyone have their stuff to add onto the weebly? I know it's early days since Wednesday I thought I would ask. Baiba i can't remember where we got to in terms of asking Sophie if she is ok with the transcript going up, or if we were just going with emails? Also 10.30 is fine with me next Wednesday. It just all depends on Geographies. x
Babia Jake: I'll write to her to book the room for Thursday and then also ask her if it would be ok to publish the transcript. I'm not sure about Wednesday. I might make it for around 30 min, because Anna and I, we have Duttmann on Wednesday.

Saturday 18th February
Stef Bailey: hey I'm working on stuff this weekend...have had alot more input re: archive so will try to collate my thoughts to share with you..
Ilchenko Anna: Stef, good thinking. Working on John Latham. Yes, we decided to give her two days. Should we ask her straightforward and in person about this? Zizek about Wikileaks

Sunday 18th February
Galia Kirilvoa: Hi All, I am working on the transcript of your Wednesday meeting. I just wanted to ask you guys if you have any other records from the group meetings with you: Stef, Anna you were recording quite a lot. I have just a few of them...where is gone our audio archive
G.
Kiki Claxton: Transcripts I am working on the one at White Cube Gallery. It is taking me longer then I thought but it should be finished by tomorrow. I don't think I have any other ones other then Anna's Presentation Marathon x
Stef Bailey: I will check mine as they are all on y blackberry. my god, I feel so weird today - have you guys seen the debate on Geographies?! Group work! hardcore!
GK: Well, I am in touch with the lady from British museum if you all feel that we need to postponed I will give her a ring...
Anna Ilchenko: Ok. Thursday I don't know. Has any of us sent an email to Ursula, saying that we won't be at the seminar in Latham's house?
SB: we have to see..btw I have a burning need to ask you all if we can rename the Weebly The Para-Institutional Archive. because essentially that is what we are. i don't want to be no institution and what we are doing is feeding off them?
AI: Stef, will you bite the hand that feeds you?! Just joking))
SB: hahaha. Come on Anna. I know you're with me on this one.
AI: Sure! no doubt!)
SB:btw check out what I'm doing: http://institutionalarchive.weebly.com/the-para-glossary.html
KC: ha ha I think the change of name is good one. Also low and behold I got an email from Rachel! I will forward it on to you all. How do you feel about it?
SB: nah check it!! I'm putting them into worlde..awesome-oh as a sort of aesthetic tool. cool forward the mail
KC: Great work on the blog! I'm going to do my edits tomorrow then we can insert what we've been doing over the weekend.
AI: Wow! Stef, well done!!
SB: you like? It's super easy but just an interesting way to deal with the info
KC: Yeah defo! Does anyone else have anything that I can put up tomorrow? Then we can get the blogging going on each section
SB: so i changed the name to The Para-Institutional Archive, but the web address stays the same, kind of nice, double-agenty thing
KC: Perfect
SB: and rather than documentation Ma lab has its own heading- as it is also an institution like White Cube etc…so we have the Para-blog too which is where we can put our own notes etc..on the MA lab, but more for our own project..so maybe all our meeting minutes etc..
KC: lol that's what I was going to crack on with tomorrow good work!
SB: btw had some really interesting discussion re; online/difital, and Wikipedia, SO INTERESTING! guys we need to meet up all together
KC: Yes I think that would be a good idea! So much seems to be going on. What's the plan for Wednesday?
GK: Are we going at British on Wednesday? If not, I need to call and postpone the appointment
SB: not sure where we are..but Baiba and Anna have Duttman so they cant make the British Museum
KC: Excellent at 10.30?
SB: i think we need to meet together on Wednesday...touch base..and do white cube on Thursday? Maybe we could do white cube in the morning and then go on to Latham?
KC: hmmm
SB: what do u guys think? oh. Rachel has sent glossary entries basically gonna put those thru the wordle. these notes are great
KC: Yeah but i also think it would be good to go to the British Archive! We could meet painfully early on Wednesday? I also don't know how beneficial Latham will be for our project when the White Cube it an important meet. We could see how it goes in the morning? But we need to email Ursula
LM: I have written to Ursula. The plan for Thursday is to go to Latham and she would like also our group to join. I have suggested to postpone Latham to 3-6. This should give us enough time for Whitcube.
SB: Lisaaaaaaa!!! yay! I agree re: British museum.. ok..well then we organise White Cube for Friday..or the Weekend?
KC:I must say I agree with Lisa! Great to have you back lol
SB: might be interesting to work in there on the weekend actually.
KC: I've just change the blog around a bit, and added on the King's College Library.
SB: nice. and i've decided to do the para-glossary on tumblr fucking tumblr. para-glossary stays in the weebly for now http://institutionalarchive.weebly.com/the-para-glossary.html I don't know how to get the page description to show up at the top of the page? I don't know how much I like the 'aesthetics' of it at present, though I think the word clouds are pretty cool...as for the headings, I wonder If we should keep "white cube" ie. institutional names as tab headings..and the "archive as space" sort of works as intro/conclusion pages?
btw what makes the wordle more brilliant is the narrative - ie. look at the "flow" in collaboration! And out of all of them, only 2 were "re-done", most of these were done of the first go.
